Homelessness Awareness Month
Homelessness Awareness Month – November - Purple Ribbon
A Time to Reflect and Give Back
November is Homelessness Awareness Month – a time to reflect on the state of homelessness in our country and what we can do to help. HOUSE, Inc is a 501c3 charity that is dedicated to helping the homeless and home-insecure population by providing safe, sober, and affordable transient housing. This month, we encourage everyone to take some time to learn about the issue of homelessness and how they can help make a difference.
According to recent estimates, there are over half a million people experiencing homelessness in the United States on any given night. That number has been steadily increasing over the past few years, despite efforts by organizations like ours to help make a dent. The causes of homelessness are complex and varied, but there are a few factors that tend to contribute more than others. These include things like the increasing cost of housing, unemployment, domestic violence, mental illness, and substance abuse.
Organizations like ours are making a difference by providing transitional housing and supportive services that help people get back on their feet. However, we need all the help we can get. This month, we urge everyone to donate or volunteer with a local homeless shelter or organization that is working to end homelessness. Together, we can make a difference.
This November, let's take some time to reflect on the state of homelessness in our country and what we can do to help. Donate or volunteer with a local shelter or organization dedicated to helping the homeless population. Every little bit helps! Thank you for your support!
