Keeping families in their homes when one setback could mean losing everything.

HOUSE, Inc. provides emergency rental assistance — zero-interest forgivable loans and grants — to families facing eviction due to a temporary hardship.

Program status update

Emergency Housing Assistance Program is currently paused due to limited resources at this time.

We are a small charity with a very limited number of volunteers and modest donation levels, which affects our capacity to accept new applications. Response times for email and phone inquiries will be significantly delayed; email is preferred whenever possible.

If you are facing eviction right now, please see our apply page for alternative resources, including 2-1-1 and your state or county emergency rental assistance program. When the situation improves, we will make an announcement and reopen the program.

What We Do

Direct, personal help for families on the edge of eviction.

We are a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Every application is reviewed by our board. Funds go directly to landlords or housing providers — never as cash to applicants.

Emergency Rent Payments

Funds paid directly to landlords or property managers to catch families up on rent and prevent eviction filings.

%

Zero-Interest Forgivable Loans

For working families with a clear path back to stability, loans carry no interest and may be forgiven entirely.

Board-Reviewed Applications

Every request is reviewed by our volunteer board of directors. Decisions are made case-by-case with documented criteria.

Our Approach

A safety net for the gap other programs don't cover.

Government rent assistance often has strict eligibility rules and long wait times. Many working families fall into a gap — earning too much for emergency aid, but not enough to absorb a sudden shock like a job loss, medical bill, or car breakdown. That is where we come in.

Focused on working families

We prioritize applicants with a demonstrated ability to remain stable with a short-term bridge — a job lined up, a medical issue resolving, a temporary income gap that has a clear end in sight.

Small, accountable, local-to-national

Our board reviews every case. We assist households across the U.S. where need is documented and the path to stability is clear. We keep our overhead minimal.

Funds go to housing, not overhead

Donations are used to pay rent, mortgage, or housing-related costs directly to providers. Administrative costs are kept to a minimum by a volunteer board.
