Our Story…
Housing Opportunities to Ultimately Shelter Everyone, Inc (HOUSE, Inc.) was formed in July 2021 for the charitable purpose of providing temporary shared housing and transitional community accommodations. HOUSE, Inc. serves individuals experiencing housing insecurities or who need to live in a drug and alcohol-free environment. HOUSE, Inc.'s services will:
Provide recovery assistance and relief for poor and distressed individuals.
Prevent homelessness and end poverty.
Improve physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being.
Reunite families.
HOUSE, Inc. aims to help individuals who would not qualify for suitable housing for several reasons. Many people we aim to help have a history of mental illness, domestic abuse, or other trauma and a history of addiction or incarceration. HOUSE, Inc.'s shared housing solution gives them another chance to integrate into society as fully functioning citizens.
To that end, HOUSE, Inc. provides a transitional program with a strict schedule and rules. During the early stages of an individual's stay at HOUSE, Inc., staff members reach out to them often to help them adjust to life in a community setting. Residents meet weekly to govern themselves and participate in activities to help with their sustained recovery. Gradually, residents are encouraged to take on more responsibilities as they become more independent and accountable for their actions.
HOUSE, Inc.'s transitional housing program is starting with a women's home but also wants to help other groups, including veterans, children and teenagers, and the elderly. At HOUSE, Inc., we believe that everyone deserves a chance to live a happy and productive life. Our goal is not to just give our residents homes to live in but to help them grow into citizens who can be self-sufficient members of the community again.
HOUSE, Inc. provides short-term accommodation services to provide stability for individuals transitioning from homelessness or addiction treatment centers into long-term independent living arrangements. Services are provided at little cost and, in most cases, can be covered by housing vouchers, monetary gifts, and grants. The duration of services varies depending on the resident's needs and circumstances but generally lasts between a few months to a year.
There are hundreds of thousands of individuals who need more than shelter. Many people are still living on the streets or in inadequate transitional housing; many others live in housing programs that restrict freedoms, forbid medications that assist with mental health disease, and have little privacy.
HOUSE, Inc.'s model provides an opportunity for people to change their lives and live productively while residing together under one roof. Everyone has different needs, and HOUSE, Inc aims to accommodate those needs as much we can; we believe that we will be most effective if we try to meet each person where they are at during their journey through recovery into a productive member of society.
